Christmas Market group to appear on St. Louis’ KSDK afternoon TV show

At 3 p.m. on Friday, November 20, board members and other representatives of the Carlinville Christmas Market are scheduled to appear on “Show Me St. Louis,” a news and entertainment program broadcast by St. Louis television station KSDK, Channel 5.

During the show, one of the hosts goes out to the street near the station headquarters to interview small groups of people who represent organizations with events, programs, or presentations coming up during the holidays.

“We have been on the show in years past to help promote Carlinville and our Christmas Market, but it’s never the same, and it’s always a thrill to be on TV,” said organizer Jodie Padgett.  “There are lots of people and a number of organizations on hand each time, so we don’t get a lot of time on the air – just enough to give our names, the name of our organization, the dates, and some highlights.

“Many times, people will wear unusual hats or even full costumes to illustrate what their event is all about, and there’s always lots of waving and cheering.  It gets loud and a little crazy, and that’s part of the fun of doing it.”

Besides Padgett, this year’s Christmas Market contingent will include Doug Downey, Jeff Link, Amy Petrovich, and Debbie Zilm, as well as Zilm’s granddaughter, Lauren, who will appear as Santa’s elf.
