Christmas Market cookbook in reprint, back on shelves in February

The “Carlinville Christmas Market 20th Anniversary Cookbook” sold out during its namesake festival earlier this month and is being reprinted.   The original print run for the commemorative cookbook was 400, and the Christmas Market is having another 200 printed.  They will be back on the shelves by February.

“We have a back-order list of about 50 names, and those folks will get their cookbooks the minute they come off the delivery truck,” said CCMF President Debbie Zilm.  “Some of them have already paid us, others have ordered and will pay when the books come in.  After that, we’ll distribute the supply to the same shops around town that carried them the first time and open up sales to everyone.

Since the reprint can’t be delivered before Christmas, the Christmas Market will provide gift certificates to people who want to give the cookbook as a Christmas gift.  They can call 217-854-8824 or 217-854-6663 to place an order and request a certificate.   They may also just leave their name, phone number, and number of cookbooks they want to reserve and then pay later when the shipment arrives.

“We expected to sell all 400 of our original print run,” said CCMF Vice President Doug Downey, “but we didn’t think it would happen that fast.  We sold more than half of the cookbooks before Christmas Market even started and were out of stock and taking rain checks before it ended.  We have to apologize to people who wanted the cookbook and didn’t get it, but we hope they’ll be patient and wait for the reprint.  We’ll try to get the printer to rush our order, but we can’t promise anything.”

“Sales of the cookbook are a testament to the community spirit here in Carlinville,” added Market spokesman Rich Minster.  “It reflects the spirit of cooperation, of giving, and of sharing.  And that’s what Christmas and the Christmas Market are all about.”
